Figure Studies Series
This series was inspired by a formative time in my mid to late 20’s as I discovered the complexity of the beauty that is womanhood. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer during a time that I witnessed many friends embark on the journey that is motherhood and the juxtaposition of those facets of being a woman became a densely layered thing for me to acknowledge and process. More so, I found myself conceding the further shifting of dynamics as sisters championed in their careers and celebrated or struggled with singleness while others sunk roots into starting families or walked through valleys in their attempt. There is so much unfolding in becoming all of the strength it is to be a woman and these series are meant to be a tasteful celebration of such.
This collection is done in mixed media pencil and watercolor on cold press, acid-free, 9”x 12” sized paper and I have just released the Indigo and Taupe renderings of the series. Stay tuned for more colors yet to come!
